Having spent nearly 15 years building websites for clients, you’d think that building a website for ourselves would be a simple job. The truth is that building your own agency website is probably one of the hardest projects you can take on, and I say that after doing it at 3 agencies.

There’s two issues - 

  1. Every person in the agency is a stakeholder and they all want the website to reflect their own specialism in the best possible way - which is amazing, but at the same time a lot of stakeholder management.
  2. Paid work naturally always takes priority which means things can slip, and what should have taken 2 weeks can take 2 months. Again, not a bad problem - but it can be a problem. 

It's only been 6 months since we last relaunched our site with our new brand - and some may wonder why we felt the need to overhaul after such a short amount of time. But the truth is that our previous website wasn't performing as we needed it to and there were a number of fundamental changes we wanted to make; however, with the development team at full capacity it was getting pushed further and further down the pecking order.

Enter Webflow.

Traditionally we’ve always built our own websites on Umbraco; it’s flexible, we have a lot of accelerators and it does everything we need it to do to scale. But this time we chose Webflow; the platform that allows us to launch websites with very minimal development input. 

We were able to design, build and upload content asynchronously - there was very little risk of the project becoming blocked because any of us could jump on the build, and we were able to fly through the content admin together. 

There’s now even a Figma > Webflow export we were able to utilise.

So, does this mean we’ll now be doing everything in Webflow?

Not exactly. Our website is in effect a brochure site, blog and set of contact forms - Webflow is perfect for this. For anything more complex with integrations, we could run into limitations.  

Things are certainly picking back up in our industry, but we don't think it's a coincidence that the new website conversion rate increased dramatically 2 days after launch...
