Know where your website stands.
Standard support has ended for Umbraco 7, 8 and 10. Umbraco 13 is in its security phase, with end of life on 14 December 2026. An end-of-life website can keep running, but routine vendor fixes have ended.

Different versions need different plans.
Umbraco 7 and 8 migrations
These older implementations need a migration assessment. For Umbraco 8, the move to modern .NET means custom application code needs adapting or rebuilding. Umbraco 7 also requires content migration and implementation work. We identify what to preserve and test a representative migration before scaling up.
Umbraco 10 upgrades
Review the CMS alongside its .NET dependencies, packages and hosting. We map the required migration steps and test custom functionality against the target version. Unsupported intermediate versions may be needed during development; the destination should be a supported release.
Umbraco 13 to 17
The newer backoffice changes how extensions work. We review custom editors and packages, then compare upgrading the existing solution with moving content into a fresh implementation. The right route depends on how much of your current platform is worth carrying forward.

Umbraco 17 is the current long-term support release at this review, with standard support through November 2028. We assess it against your dependencies and roadmap. A newer standard-term release can suit some projects, with a different upgrade cadence to budget for.
Know what will change, and how we’ll prove it works.
01. Assess and scope
Review versions, packages, custom code, content and integrations. Receive a recommended route, dependencies, estimate and delivery plan.
02. Migrate and test
Trial the migration in a separate environment. Test publishing, forms, search, payments and connected systems with the people who use them.
03. Launch and hand over
Agree backups, content changes, redirects and recovery steps. Monitor the release and document the upgraded platform and ongoing responsibilities.
Before we get started.
How much does an Umbraco upgrade cost?
The starting version is only part of the scope. Custom code, packages, content models, integrations and testing requirements all affect the work. We review the implementation first, then provide a scoped estimate with assumptions and options. A version number alone is not enough for a reliable quote.
Can we keep our existing design and content?
Often, yes. An upgrade does not automatically require a redesign. We assess what can be retained, what needs adapting and where rebuilding would be more practical. Content and media are mapped and checked through trial migrations before launch.
Will an upgrade affect our search rankings or cause downtime?
We plan to preserve URLs, metadata and important journeys, with redirects where addresses must change. Rehearsals, a content freeze and a recovery plan help control the launch. We agree any maintenance window in advance; zero downtime or unchanged rankings cannot be guaranteed.
Can you upgrade a website built by another agency?
Yes. We start with access to the code, environments, database and package inventory, alongside any documentation and known issues. That review establishes the migration route, technical dependencies and responsibilities before delivery begins.
How long will the upgrade take?
We set a delivery plan after the technical assessment. The time needed depends on the work to custom editors and integrations, content migration, testing and your team’s availability for review. The plan includes milestones and a proposed launch window.
